Ford Probe 1994 posters

Ford Probe

The Ford Probe was initially equipped with the Ford F-4EAT transmission for both engines, but by 1994, the V6 engine was switched to the 4EAT while the 2.0 L I4 engine was fitted with the Ford CD4E transmission. A "Feature Model" Probe was introduced in the same year with Wild Orchid exterior paint, special floor mats with "PROBE" embroidered on them, and black GT cloth bucket seats with purple inserts. In addition, a SE (Sports Edition) trim level was also available starting in 1994. This included the GT front fascia without fog lamps, GT body-color bodyside cladding, 15-inch (380 mm) aluminum wheels, P205/55R15 BSW tires, and Sport Edition "SE" nomenclature. A rear spoiler was made standard on the 1996 Ford Probe GTs, having been previously a very popular dealer-installed accessory. The last model year of the Ford Probe, 1997, introduced the GTS trim level. It featured the same performance as the regular GT but with distinct exterior modifications which included dual racing stripes from the top edge of the front bumper extending to the back lip of the hatch, chrome wheels, and a spoiler. The center reflector was also "blank", lacking the "GT" lettering typically found on the Australian and European models. In Japan, the 2.5 L V6 was the higher performance KL-ZE, whereas in Europe and America, the 2.5 L V6 had lower performance and was referred to as the KL-03 (often incorrectly as the KL-DE). The 2.0 L engine was designated as the FS, the primary difference being that it lacked an emissions control component that was required in North America and Europe.
