Ford R5 Concept

The Ford R5 Concept is an advanced vehicle that envelopes the latest technology and mechanics. Its custom-developed adaptive four wheel drive system ensures all wheels are powered full-time, with an electronic management system distributing power to each wheel according to needs. Generally, the torque is split 60/40 between rear and front wheels. Exterior The Ford R5 has a distinct styling due to its Falcon ute platform having been extended rearward, with an abbreviated pick-up bed affixed to the cabin. The look is further accentuated by its opposition doors, granting access to the cabin, alongside the removal of the 'B-pillar', facilitating easier entry. Splashed in a new 'Uluru Sunset' paint emphasizing colors of yellow and purple dependent on the light, it also boasts high powered driving lights, a subtle bumper guard, and 150mm more clearance than the usual Falcon ute. Plus, a metal mesh grille, high performance quad-beam headlights, low-mounted driving lights, twin side-exhaust outlets, a sports bar incorporating Hella 'Comet FF100' lamps, and 17" alloy wheels fitted with 235/65R17 F1 Wrangler tyres. Additionally, a 1-tonne electric winch is cleverly concealed behind a metal lattice in the lower face of the bumper, with tie-downs adding another touch of detail to the sleek design. Interior The Ford R5's interior is a combination of function and form, with five seats upholstered in Eucalypt suede with charcoal nylon mesh inlays, and brushed aluminium highlights gracing the dash, gear-shift, and door trims. The cab also plays host to the central display unit (CDU) housing controls for in-car electronics ranging from telematics, an audio system, climate control, satellite navigation, to phone and email access. The rear seat splits 60/40, offering a convenient entrance to the load area for transporting lengthy items. Mechanically Speaking The R5 is powered by a 220kW 5.0 litre V8 joined to a 5-speed manual transmission. An array of large four-wheel discs with double-pot calipers ensures effective stopping, while a 240v power outlet and 50-litre on-board water tank are incorporated into the rear bumper.
