Ford Performance Vehicles has engineered and designed the new GT range for the latest in performance engineering as well as improvements in ride and handling. Rod Barrett, General Manager of FPV, shares "The new GT and GT-P are the most powerful V8s we've created to deliver the perfect balance of high performance, control, and fuel efficiency." To achieve this, the 5.4 litre quad-cam 32 valve V8 engines produce an impressive 315kW at 6500 rpm and maximum 551Nm of torque at 4750 rpm. The Boss 315 calibration has been enhanced for better response and drivability, while the volumetric efficiency increases engine power. Moreover, the engine hardware has been strengthened, allowing for an increased rpm of 6500. Consequently, one can experience an accelerative boost with a smoother idle and a richer engine note. The additional power does not come at the expense of fuel economy as the GT-P and GT can provide 14L/100km fuel consumption. This is a 4.8 percent decrease compared to the former model.
