GMC Envoy XL Denali

The GMC Envoy XL Denali is a luxury version of GMC's Envoy SUV, which replaced the Jimmy name in its lineup. This version features the hallmark bullet pattern grille and an upgraded interior with features such as heated power seats, extensive woodgrain trim, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. It is available in standard length wheelbase and XL variants, and prices range from US$37,145 to $43,895. Under the hood, all Envoys are powered by 4-wheel disc brakes. In 2003, it had a 270 hp (201 kW) Vortec 4200 engine, while later models use a 275 hp (205 kW) version. The 2006 model year saw an improvement to 291 hp. In 2005, GM introduced a 5.3 L V8 engine with Displacement on Demand technology. The Envoy was Motor Trend magazine's Sport/Utility of the Year for 2002 and the 4200 Vortec I6 engine has been named to Ward's 10 Best Engines list annually since its debut. One unique element of the Envoy is the availability of a 3-row 7-passenger Envoy XL version. It is 16 in (406 mm) longer and has a higher roofline to allow easier access to the third row of seats. Its roof is disguised by standard roof racks. This vehicle is produced at the Oklahoma City Assembly plant, but ceased to exist after the 2006 model year and was replaced by the Acadia in 2007. The Envoy XUV was introduced in 2003 as a crossbreed of pickup truck and SUV. It featured a retractable rear roof section, and has a two-way tailgate which can hinge sideways or drop down. The cargo area was waterproofed and fitted with a drainage system. Unfortunately, sales were much slower than expected and the XUV was discontinued in 2005.
