Holden Astra 3-door

The fifth generation AH Astra was released in November 2004 as a five-door hatchback. This car was manufactured in Belgium, and sold alongside the Polish-made Astra TS sedan and hatchback. The TS Astra models were sold with "Astra Classic" badges but were later replaced by the Holden Viva, a rebadged Daewoo Lacetti. For a year before that, the Lacetti was marketed in Australia as a Daewoo, until Holden withdrew the brand due to low sales.

The Astra was found to provide a "better than average" level of safety according to the 2008 Used Car Safety Ratings. The AH series had airbags for both the front and side impacts, leading the car to get a four-star ANCAP crash safety rating. Higher-spec models were able to achieve the full five stars with the addition of more safety equipment.

Holden had to suspend the importation of the Astra on 20 April 2009 due to currency and commodity fluctuations. This import suspension resulted in no Astras being available in June or July 2009, and the introduction of the Holden Cruze - the reported replacement for the Holden Viva. On 31 August 2009, Holden announced that the cessation of Astra imports were to be permanent, focusing all their efforts on the Cruze.
