Holden Astra Convertible

The Holden Astra is a compact car that is currently sold by General Motors in Australia and New Zealand. From 1984 to 1989, it was a locally-manufactured, rebadged version of the Nissan Pulsar, and was only available in Australia. The distinguishing feature of the Astra was its grille, which featured the Holden lion badge. This 'LB' and 'LC' series was replaced in 1987 with the 'LD' model, which was maintained until 1989, when Holden decided to market the rebadged Toyota Corolla, known as the Nova. In New Zealand, the Astra was first introduced in 1995, as an imported version of the Opel Astra F. Australia eventually adopted the same model a year later, and this was categorised as 'TR' series in Holden terms. This was replaced in 1999 by the 'TS' model, though the 'TS' was only available in its coupe and convertible versions. Whereas the Astra B wagon was available in New Zealand, it was never released in Australia. In 2004, the 'AH' Astra generation was released in Australia, and sold alongside the 'Astra Classic', which was being manufactured in Poland. In August 2005, the Astra Wagon was released in Australia, while diesel variants arrived in June 2006. The diesel Astra came with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, with either 88kW or 110kW of power respectively. The Astra Classic was discontinued in late 2005 and replaced with the Holden Viva, a rebranded Daewoo Lacetti.
