Holden Astra Wagon

The Holden Astra is a popular compact car sold across Australia and New Zealand by General Motors. In Australia between 1984 and 1989, it was based on the Nissan Pulsar, and was sold under the Holden Astra badge with the Holden lion grille. These models are known as the LB and LC series Astras. Then, in 1987, the LD model Astra was introduced and it remained until 1989, when Holden released the rebadged Toyota Corolla, the Nova. In New Zealand, the Astra name was used for imported versions of the Opel Astra F from 1995, and Australia followed suit the following year, releasing the TR series. The TS Astra was subsequently based on the Opel Astra G range, however, the Coupe by Bertone wasn't available under the Holden badge, but the convertible was. In New Zealand, the Astra B was also available as a wagon but Australians missed out on this variant. In 2004, Holden released the AH Astra (based on the Opel Astra H) five-door across Australia and the Polish-built Astra G carried the Astra Classic badge. Plastic Classic variants will be dropped in favour of the Holden Viva, a rebadged Daewoo Lacetti, in late 2005. In August 2005, Australians were finally able to get their hands on the Astra Wagon, a model that wasn't available in New Zealand. In June 2006, diesel variants of the Astra made their debut in Australia, offering a 6-speed manual version with a 110kW 1.9-litre engine, as well as an 88 kW six-speed automatic model.
