Holden Cruze
The highly-anticipated Holden Cruze made its Australian debut at the 2009 Melbourne International Motor Show and was warmly welcomed by the competitive small car market. As the first of General Motors' new global products, Cruze offers a striking road presence, a comfortable and advanced interior, as well as high levels of safety features. Available with either a 1.8 litre ECOTEC 4-cylinder petrol engine or a 2.0 litre turbocharged 4-cylinder common rail diesel engine, the Holden Cruze will hit the sale in the second quarter of 2009.
GM Holden Chairman and Managing Director, Mark Reuss, said the Cruze presented both aesthetic and substance, right from the base model to the top of the range. According to Reuss, the Cruze marks the beginning of a new chapter for Holden as it responds to the growing small car market. "The Holden Cruze is a world class small car that was developed by GM's best global design and engineering team," he said.
Holden Cruze's product line-up will feature the CD and CDX models, both powered by a 1.8 litre 4-cylinder ECOTEC petrol engine. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic Active Select transmission. The CD model also offers an optional 2.0 litre common rail turbocharged diesel engine and will be part of the EcoLine range. The car is guaranteed to perform in terms of its fuel efficiency, performance, and ride and handling.
