Honda Accord Coupe

The fourth generation Honda Accord Coupe, unveiled in 1989, featured a low-slung design and wraparound rear window similar to its predecessor. It was one of the first U.S. production cars with optic reflectors and completely clear lens headlamps. Influences from the Honda Legend flagship model, sold in North America as an Acura, were also apparent in this model. Honda made significant engineering design improvements for this 4th generation Accord Coupe. All models sold in North America came with a new all-aluminium 2.2-liter 16-valve engine with electronic fuel injection, replacing the 2.0-liter 12-valve engine from the previous generation. A rear engine mount with electronically controlled fluid chambers was also included to reduce low-frequency noise and vibrations. In the U.S., the five trim levels offered were DX, LX, and EX and in Canada the trims were LX, EX and EX-R. An additional feature was the four-wheel steering system offered on the Japanese-assembled EXi Accord in Australia, but not in New Zealand-assembled versions.
