Honda Accord Sedan

The third-generation Honda Accord was introduced in various countries, including Japan, Europe and North America, in 1985. Its exterior design, styled by Toshi Oshika, featured a striking look with hidden headlamps, a styling element exclusive to the Japanese-market Accord and Honda Verno products. Thanks to its double wishbone front and rear suspensions, the Accord provided improved stability and sharper handling. Different markets received different engine configurations – the Japanese market featured the A18A, B18A, and B20A, while the Europe market got the A16A1, A20A2, A20A4, B20A2 and B20A8; the North American market had the A20A1 and A20A3. Additionally, Japanese Accord owners had to pay a higher annual road tax, due to the introduction of the 2.0-liter engine, which classified the model as a luxury car in Japan. The brakes came in three variations - small all-wheel discs with twin-piston calipers (only for Japanese models), larger all-wheel discs with single-piston calipers, and a front disc/rear drum set up. ABS was available as an option on the disc brake models in most markets, with the exception of North America. Additionally, 13-inch steel wheels with wheel covers were standard in base models, while 14-inch alloy wheels were an available upgrade.
