The seventh-generation Honda Accord for the European and Japanese markets was a mid-sized sedan and wagon that was produced from 2002 through 2007. Honda's purpose in combining the models was to better compete in the European auto market. To achieve this, they added a station wagon model and installed the first diesel engine Honda had ever produced in the wagons. In Japan, the Accord was merged into Torneo to more firmly compete with popular sport sedans like the Mazda Atenza and Subaru Legacy.
The Accord's exterior also grew slightly, going beyond the size 5 tax band in Japan, and was rebranded as the Accord Euro in New Zealand and Australia. Thanks to its build quality, the Accord Euro became a popular model in Australia, with over 45,000 sedans sold between 2003 and 2008. Furthermore, the JDM Accord was also exported to North America and Canada, marketed under the Acura TSX label.
