Honda Civic CVCC

The Honda Civic CVCC was a revolutionary car that was launched in 1972. It was a substantially bigger and more powerful engine than the earlier Honda N600, boasting 1169 cc (70 in³) and 50 hp (37 kW). It also came with improvements to the suspension and brakes, powered front disc brakes, vinyl seating, reclining bucket seats, and a woodgrain-accented dashboard. Options for the Civic were limited to air conditioning, an automatic transmission called the Hondamatic, radial tires, and a rear wiper for the hatchback. This car could get an impressive 40 mpg-US (5.9 L/100 km; 48 mpg-imp), and weighed in at 1,500 pounds (680 kg). The Civic was the first Honda car to be sold in Britain, and quickly became a popular choice due to its economical engine and compact size. The four-door sedan version was never available in the USA, and the five-door hatchback did not appear until 1978. Upon its release in the USA, Honda ran an advertising campaign with the slogan, "Honda, we make it simple." This tagline was used until the 1984 model year.
