Honda Civic Si Concept

At the 2011 North American International Auto Show, Honda debuted the Civic Si concept coupe and sedan, providing a first look at the upcoming ninth-generation 2012 model set to be released this spring. As expressed by John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda: "The Civic is known for providing a balance of 'just-right' packaging, fun-to-drive character and outstanding fuel economy, at a price that even first-time buyers can afford. The redesigned Civic builds on this legacy and promises to be the best Civic yet."

The ninth-generation Civic embraces the vision of a "Civic for all people," with an array of engine choices and models catering to a range of requirements and budgets. This includes a conventional gasoline sedan and coupe, alongside two sporty Si performance variants, a hybrid, and a natural gas alternative-fuel option. The vehicle lineup suggests that the Civic can offer a unique combination of fuel economy, low emissions, and fun-to-drive performance.

The exterior design reflects this thoughtful balance, expressing a mono-form shape, clean and powerful lines, steeply raked windshields, a wide stance, and complex, three-dimensional sculpting in the front fenders. Additionally, pronounced character lines and a deep set housing for the headlights convey a feeling of sophistication and structural depth.
