Honda Civic EUR
The European Civic (FK/FN chassis) features an exterior design by Toshiyuki Okumoto which is much more aggressive than its American and JDM counterparts. Its distinctive style includes a sweeping front arc incorporating a unique lamp cluster and triangular accents at the front and back, coupled with hidden rear handles and dual triangle exhaust tips. The rear backglass is split into two levels and the fuel filler cap is a race-inspired exposed metal effect cap.
Mechanically, the European Civic differs from the American and JDM variants in the use of a simpler torsion beam suspension system at the rear, allowing for a larger interior with a smaller length compared to its predecessor. It offers the 1.4-litre i-DSI, 1.8-litre i-VTEC (R18A2) and 2.2-litre i-CTDi N22A2 turbodiesel engines, with a 6-speed manual transmission across the range. An automated manual transmission, known as i-SHIFT is also available with 1.4- and 1.8-litre petrol engines. Additionally, a 2.0-litre i-VTEC (K20Z4) Type-R high-performance version is available to those looking to get the most out of their European Civic.
Produced in Swindon, UK, the European Civic is available primarily as a 5-door and 3-door hatchback. It was awarded the 2007 Semperit Irish Car of the Year in Ireland.
