The 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid features Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) for improved control and handling. The Hybrid is equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) as standard. Its revolutionary IMA hybrid technology provides power delivered by a 1.3-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine and a 15 kilowatt electric motor, resulting in a maximum of 110 horsepower and 123 lb-ft. of torque. This sophisticated system has earned the Civic Hybrid the CARB's AT-PZEV rating, while the model also offers EPA-estimated city/highway fuel economy of 40/45 miles per gallon. It even offers the convenience of four cylinders deactivating and operating just using the electric motor in certain low-speed cruising conditions.
