Honda Civic Sedan

The fifth generation of the Honda Civic made its debut in Japan on September 9, 1991. This new model was bigger than its predecessor and featured a more aerodynamic body, and a wheelbase of 257 cm (101.3 in) for the three-door hatchback and 262 cm (103.2 in) for the four-door sedan. The wagon version was omitted for overseas markets, while the previous generation station wagon ("Shuttle") was still available in Japan and Europe. Upon its introduction, it won the Car of the Year Japan Award for the second time. This generation of Civic was designed with lightweight materials to create a fuel-efficient economy car. The cowl was taller than before, improving ride quality at the expense of crisper handling characteristics. Models with the 1.6 L SOHC VTEC 125 PS (92 kW; 123 hp) engine, like the Si hatchback and EX coupe in the United States, sparked an interest in the high-performance 1.6 L inline-four segment. In South Africa, a unique model with the B18B3 from the Acura Integra RS was particularly crafted to make up for the absence of the DOHC B16A VTEC engine in the lineup. The two-door coupe body style was initially introduced in 1993. The trims for the United States (USDM) were the DX (EJ2), EX, and EX-S (EJ1), and on the Canadian Domestic Market (CDM), they were the DX, DX "Special Edition" (EJ2), and Si (EJ1). The coupe was also exported to Europe and Japan; Honda released a left-hand drive version of the coupe model as a limited edition in Japan, imported from the United States, to mark the tenth anniversary of the Honda Primo dealer network in 1994.
