Honda Civic Sedan

The seventh generation of the Honda Civic, produced from 2000 to 2005, offered similar exterior dimensions to its predecessor but increased significantly in interior space, making it a compact car. It featured a flat rear floor for better comfort of its rear seat passengers, as well as a MacPherson strut suspension, replacing the front double wishbone from the previous four to six generations. On its introduction in 2000, the Civic won the Car of the Year Japan Award for the fourth time, as well as the Japan Automotive Researchers' and Journalists' Conference Car of the Year award in 2001. A 115 hp (86 kW) engine powered all Civics (except EX and Si), up 9 hp (7 kW) from the previous model, while EX remained at 127 hp (95 kW) and all non-Si engines had their size stroked to 1.7 liters for North America. In 2003, the Civic got new tail lights which created a circle when illuminated, and for 2004 a facelift was added with new headlights, bumper, and grille, as well as side skirts. The U.S Honda released the Special Edition in 2005, coming in LX or EX variations. For the hybrid version, released in North America in spring 2002, combined forces of a small 1.3 L I4 main gasoline engine and auxiliary electric motors produced a total of 93 hp. The electric motors were powered by a battery array which could be charged by regenerative braking during deceleration, contributing to low exhaust emissions and an impressive fuel mileage of 46 mpg city / 51 mpg highway with manual transmission, according to EPA estimates.
