Honda Motor Co., Ltd. recently unveiled the all-new Civic Type R, a pure sports edition of the Civic that is designed to provide an enhanced driving experience. On Friday, March 30, the Type R will be made available to customers across Japan.
The new Civic Type R has undergone a number of innovations to make the driver feel as though they are one with the car. It comes with a specially tuned 2.0-liter normally aspirated engine and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Honda has also employed a lighter and more rigid body shell, specially tuned suspension, 18-inch tires, and large 17-inch front disc brakes to maximize the performance of the car. Furthermore, aerodynamic devices have been added to allow for greater speed and a more aggressive look. Drivers should find comfort in the front bucket seats, unique instrument panel, and other performance accessories.
Type R models are considered the apex of their respective ranges--an embodiment of Honda's "Challenging Sprit". Exterior-wise, the Civic Type R has a one-motion form design with a variety of aerodynamic treatments and sharp edges. It is also decked out with a large air intake in the front, rear diffuser, high-mount rear spoiler, side sill garnishes, and a shiny black chromed front grille bar, headlight sub-reflector, and Civic emblem design. Additionally, a Type R red Honda emblem is present in both the front and rear.
