Honda Civic Wagon

The third generation Honda Civic, introduced in September 1983 for model year 1984, had a wheelbase that was increased by 2-5 inches (13 cm) to 93.7 inches (hatchback) or 96.5 inches (sedan). It was made up of five variations: the CRX coupé, three-door hatchback/kammback, four-door sedan (Honda Ballade), five-door shuttle station wagon and the Honda Quint Integra—a five-door fastback that was a model change from the Honda Quint. All models shared the same basic underpinnings—independent front control arms with torsion bar springs and a semi-independent rear beam with coil springs—though their body panels appeared differently. The Honda Civic hatchback had a flatter roof, drawing inspiration from a bodystyle known in Europe as a shooting-brake, which seemingly bridged the gap between a traditionally defined hatchback and shooting-brake. This same flat-roofed, three-door hatchback was used for the Honda City supermini, Honda Today Kei cary, and Honda Accord Aerodeck. The Honda CR-X was the only three-door hatchback with a sloping, fastback-style rear hatch, which at the time, identified Honda Verno products as performance cars. The sedan and hatchback models of the Civic shared the same dashboard, but the CR-X and wagon had unique dashes—the CR-X featured a covered cubby in the middle of the dash, and the wagon a set of vents that could be hidden or utilized. In Europe, the sedan was also marketed as the Rover 213/216, and in Japan, the Honda Ballade was sold at Honda Verno dealers alongside the CR-X. In Indonesia, the Civic Sedan and Hatchback models were sold as the Civic Wonder.
