Honda FC Sport Concept

The Honda FC Sport Concept is an innovative design study that demonstrates the potential of Honda's V Flow fuel cell technology, already seen in the Honda FCX Clarity sedan, with a lightweight sports car design. It features an ultra-low center of gravity, powerful electric motor performance and zero-emissions, as well as supercar levels of performance owing to the low weight and efficient fuel cell powertrain. "The Honda FC Sport explores how to satisfy automotive performance enthusiasts in a world beyond petroleum," said Dan Bonawitz, vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "People who love sports cars will still have a reason to love in a hydrogen-powered future." This exciting concept is achieved by the feature of the high-output Honda fuel cell powertrain and the sleek, aerodynamic body. Additionally, a modular approach to component packaging and an electric drivetrain contribute to the vehicle's low center of gravity with a balanced weight distribution evenly distributed between the axles. The Honda V-Flow fuel cell stack and components are strategically situated throughout the vehicle. The stack is custom-formed and is located between the rear seats. A battery pack is in the middle of the vehicle while the electric motor can be found just forward of the rear axle. Lastly, two fuel storage tanks visible from above reside above the rear axle.
