Honda Odyssey Touring

The 2005 Honda Odyssey Touring was released to the North American market after being redesigned. Production was moved from Alliston, Ontario, Canada, to Lincoln, Alabama, and featured the global light truck platform, along with a 3.5 L V6 engine. Meanwhile, EX-L and Touring models contained i-VTEC with Variable Cylinder Management technology. This model also added various comfort features to the lineup, with the launch of a lazy susan storage bin in the floor where the spare tire used to be, as well as eight passenger seating and a 60/40 fold flat seat. Additionally, Pax run flat tires became standard on the higher priced Touring model, and can run 125 miles when flat; however, the expensive cost of repair and replacement for Pax tires raised questions about their value. In terms of pricing, the initial prices were increased by dealer markups, while cost of a set of four Pax snow tires and wheels was $1600 in 2005. Plus, prices for the highly equipped models increased significantly over the 2nd generation vans. As for the 2006 Touring with Nav and entertainment, these models could cost customers upwards of $40,000 when bought "out the door." Nevertheless, increased competition from Asian and U.S. brands meant a surge in choices within this static market segment. This, coupled with the gas price-mileage issues and average selling prices, has encouraged many North American buyers to opt for vehicles that are more affordable to buy and operate.
