Honda Prelude Type SH

The Honda Prelude was a popular front-wheel-drive, I4-engined coupe that was produced by Honda from 1978 to 2001. Spanning five generations of models, the Prelude saw enhancements in new body styling and handling characteristics with each generation, but its sales decreased in the late 1990s, and the Prelude was eventually discontinued in 2001 when the fourth-generation Honda Integra was released in Japan. Throughout the decade of the 1980s, the Prelude's main competitor was the Toyota Celica and it was also challenged by the Nissan Silvia, Isuzu Impulse, Mitsubishi FTO, and Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Mazda MX-6. The fifth-generation Prelude featured a front engine, front-wheel-drive (FF) layout with an independent front suspension and a 63/37 weight distribution. It came fitted with 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels and 205/50 R16 87V tires as standard, except for the 2-wheel-drive (2WD) Xi models, which had 14-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers, as well as 195/65 R14 89H tires. Si models could be optionally upgraded from 15-inch aluminum alloy wheels with all-season 195/60 R15 88H tires to a factory light-alloy wheel. JDM Preludes also came with rear windshield wipers (except the Xi). In 1997, the fifth-generation Honda Prelude was released worldwide, and remained in production until 2001. Models available to the Japanese markets included the SiR (10.6), Xi (8.8), Si (9.2), SiR S-spec (11.0) and Type S (11.0), while the US received a Base and Type SH model. Canada got the Base, SE, and Type SH, Europe had the 2.0i (9.5) and 2.2 VTi VTEC (10.0), and Australia the Si (10.0) and the VTi-R (10.0). All fifth-generation Preludes used the H22A engine (except, Xi (F22B), Si (F22B), 2.0i (F20A), Si (F22Z)), were within the BB-chassis code (BB5-BB9), and had a fuel tank capacity of 60 L (15.9 US gal).
