Honda S2000

The Honda S2000 is a roadster manufactured by Honda Motor Company since April 1999. It was created to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary and continues in the tradition of lightweight roadster "S" cars, such as the S600 and S800. The S2000's engine displacement is 2.0 liters (2000 cc), although Honda would later introduce a 2.2 liter model that retained the S2000 name. The car was originally manufactured at Honda's Tochigi plant from 1999 to 2003, and since then has been manufactured at the Suzuka plant. Design and Construction The S2000 has a rear wheel drive, with power being delivered through a Torsen limited slip differential and a six-speed manual transmission. It's made up of an X-bone monocoque frame, which improves handling, road noise, and steering feel and feedback. The car is also equipped with double wishbone suspension, electrically-assisted steering, integrated roll hoops, and a canvas top that takes 6 seconds to open, making it the fastest convertible top among all models. Models The first S2000 model released in 1999 was outfitted with 16" alloy wheels and Bridgestone Potenza S-02 tyres. In the next few years, the car was updated with revised rear spring rates, shocks, and suspension setups. In 2004, 17" alloy wheels with Bridgestone RE-050 tires and a revised suspension were introduced, while the engine was changed to a 2.0 liter and had its redline reduced to 8,200 rpm. Honda also introduced a 2.2 liter model in the North American market.
