Honda S2000 CR Concept

The 2008 Honda S2000 CR Prototype brings unparalleled style and track-worthy performance to the renowned roadster. Slated for release in the fall of 2007, the S2000 CR comes equipped with an aluminum hardtop and a variety of highly-aggressive and lightweight engineering enhancements. Engineers have dialed-in the features to maximize potential on racetracks while substantially-improving chassis balance and overall feel. The S2000 CR's aerodynamic body kit is designed to reduce lift, while its chassis features include firmer springs and dampers, a quicker steering ratio, Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires, increased body and chassis rigidity, and a wider rear tire size. The car also includes aluminum alloy wheels, ABS, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), and a torque-sensing limited slip differential as standard features. Moreover, an array of exclusive interior upgrades are highlighted by unique cloth seating surfaces with yellow stitching, a spherical aluminum shifter, and carbon fiber-look trim panels. "The S2000 CR is the closest thing you can get to a Honda-built racecar with license plate holders and a horn," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "Its features and equipment are designed to appeal to weekend club racing enthusiasts." The S2000 CR's combination of everyday usability and uncompromising performance makes it a dynamic force to be reckoned with. Its 2.2-liter DOHC VTEC® engine produces 237 horsepower and 162 lb-ft. of torque, while mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. In addition to providing precise shifting with quick throws, the S2000 also rewards driving enthusiasts with a 50/50 weight balance for achieving maximum stability and control.
