HSV VXR
Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) is bringing their most cutting-edge European import to the Australian market in 2006 - the HSV VXR. The Managing Director of HSV, Mr Phil Harding, announced that the first batch of cars have arrived in Australia. Mr Harding expressed his enthusiasm for the VXR, saying, “As we have been striving to increase our presence in the domestic market, we decided the VXR would be the ideal way to do so. This vehicle is taking Europe by storm, so we would urge customers to visit a HSV dealership to test drive it as soon as possible.”
The VXR features an IDS chassis control system including ESP, traction control, ABS, and brake assist. It is enhanced by a McPherson-strut front suspension, torsion-beam rear axle, 19-inch, European styled, 10 spoke alloy wheels and ultra low-profile tyres for greater road feel. The 2.0i 16v ECOTEC-4 turbo engine produces 177kW at 5600rpm and 320Nm at 2400rpm, allowing the VXR to accelerate from 0-100kmh in 6.4 seconds.
Inside, its Recaro sports fitted seats with leather trimmed side bolsters and active safety front seat head restraints give the VXR a luxurious feel. Mr Harding believes the car will attract not only traditional HSV customers, but also a whole new range of buyers. He assured the public that, “We have delivered class leading chassis dynamics, performance, and safety with the VXR, continuing the success of the all new E series.”
