Hummer H2 SUT

The Hummer H2 is a large truck that was marketed by Hummer and built by AM General from 2002 to 2009, and was placed in between the Hummer H1 in size. It features slimmer dimensions than the H1, being longer, lighter, and taller. It had the ability to seat six or seven passengers and was the only vehicle of the lineup to feature the letters HUMMER between the grille. The H2 SUT was a unique variant of the SUV in that it was modified to include a pickup bed for more cargo space that could expand to reach 6 feet in total. To achieve this, the final frame assembly of the H2 was made up of 3 sections - the front frame used a modified version of GM's 2500-Series utility frame, the middle section was boxed and newly constructed, while the rear section used a similar design from the GM 1500-Series frame but was upgraded for the 8,600 pounds gross vehicle weight. It was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award in 2003 and a special Black Chrome Limited Edition model was also released in 2009. Rod Hall racing has won their class multiple times in the Baja 1000 using the Hummer H2 and H3. Application The H2 has a wider-than-average track firm that may offer stability against overturning compared to other light truck SUVs, although there is no objective test data to back this up due to the vehicle's specialized class. Hummer primarily marketed it as a general purpose vehicle, and many owners usually use it as a passenger vehicle despite its off-road capabilities. It has also been a common base for limousine conversions along with the Ford Excursion.
