Hummer H3R Off Road Concept
The Hummer H3 has quickly become a formidable off-road competitor, thanks to the efforts of the Team HUMMER racing team, led by Rod Hall. It has consistently won in stock-class off-road races with its production chassis and powertrain. The H3R concept pays tribute to this race-proven vehicle but takes it to the next level with an LS7 7.0L V-8 engine that produces 505 horsepower, along with a Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed transmission.
A number of exterior modifications add a racing vibe to the SUV. A forward-tilting hood with Lexan see-through insert, power-operated hinges, a custom air induction system with dual air boxes, and a racing-inspired paint scheme with custom badging are among the features. For improved performance, it has a clear rear dual exhaust system with four outlets and HID headlamps from Starr Lighting. A body-color "Jerry" can is mounted on the spare tire carrier, and there is a unique off-road lighting package with a light bar.
Mickey Thompson Bear Claw 35-inch off-road tires riding on 20-inch wheels are powered by the Eaton front locking differential. A Rotora high-performance brake package and modified suspension with Tenneco/Rancho four-inch lift package and Rancho reservoir shocks help enhance the capabilities. The enhanced cooling system with a larger radiator is another welcome addition.
The interior has been retrimmed and features brushed metal accents and trim, front racing seats with five-point safety harnesses and weather-resistant seat material, and a Simpson window safety net. A washable rubber floor covering replaces the carpeting, and there is a navigation radio system with an off-road integrated display gauge package, auxiliaries, and a second-row seat delete. A cargo-area spare tire mount adds extra functionality.
The Hummer H3R Concept is also available with a variety of GM Accessories for production or concept vehicles, including rocker protectors, underbody shield, side-window weather deflector, roadside assistance package, first-aid kit, hitch receiver cover, and body-color grille.
