Hummer H3T Concept

The Hummer H3T concept is a vehicle from General Motors' Hummer division, making an entrance in 2005. The H3T is the smallest of the three Hummer models, taking after the H3 concept car's form of a pickup truck while the market opted for a more traditional SUV. This model is based on the GMT355 platform, which itself is the basis of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks that preceded it. This SUV is assembled at the GM plant in Shreveport, Louisiana, and further versions produced at the General Motors South Africa facility in Struandale, Port Elizabeth. Beginning at $29,500, the H3T is relatively more affordable than its counterparts in the Hummer lineup. Following its inception, the 33,140 H3Ts sold in 2005 made up 58% of total Hummer sales. For the first two months of 2006, 8,071 H3Ts were sold, taking up 74% of the company's sales. The H3T is equipped with the 3.5 L (3464 cc) Atlas straight-5 engine, also seen in the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon pickup trucks, producing 220 hp (164 kW) at 5600 rpm and 225 ft·lbf (305 N·m) at 2800 rpm. It runs with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission that is set with GM's Stabilitrak vehicle stability control, made for rough terrain. The 111.9 in wheelbase is 1.1 in shorter than the GMT360 SUVs. It also includes an electronically-controlled dual-speed transfer case and electronic locking differential. As its GVWR is positioned under 8500 lbs, Hummer is obligated to provide fuel economy ratings of 16 mpg in the city cycle for both transmission forms, along with 19 mpg with the automatic and 20 mpg with the manual on highways. While the Hummer H2 can ford up to 20 inches of water, the H3T is more capable, experienced up to 31 inches in tests. Furthermore, as it has a 2-speed transfer case as standard, the H3T is contentiously the sole performer in its class.
