Hyundai Accent

In 2010, Hyundai improved the EPA fuel economy of the Accent without dramatically hiking the price, as is the case with hybrids. This was achieved by introducing the high mileage "Blue" edition and making improvements on all Accent models, such as lower friction engine components, aerodynamic enhancements, lower-rolling-resistance tires, a "smart" alternator management system, and more. As a result, fuel efficiency has gone up by as much as nine percent, allowing for some models to reach 36 miles per gallon on the highway, surpassing similar models like Honda Fit and Nissan Versa. The Accent Blue stands out as the lowest priced edition and is able to get the highest achieved highway mileage and combined mileage (at 36 miles per gallon and 31 miles per gallon respectively). Additionally, it includes revised transmission gear ratios and lowered ride height to provide even better fuel efficiency. The Blue edition of the Hyundai Accent cost around $10,000 and is easily identifiable by the unique "Blue" badging. Both automatic and manual transmission models have driving aids to help with fuel economy. Automatic transmissions come with an "eco indicator" light that turns green so the driver knows he/she is driving efficiently, while manual transmission models have an EcoShift indicator to guide when to shift.
