Hyundai Elantra

The Hyundai Elantra boasts an emotional look written by the "Fluidic Sculpture” design principles – using wind and rigid surfaces to create a motion illusion. It exemplifies the design continuity of the Sonata, but makes its own style statement setting itself apart with a distinct silhouette, Day Light Opening (DLO), muscular wheel arches, a sleek roofline, an aerodynamic body with a drag coefficient of 0.28, the signature hexagonal front grille and detailed swept-back headlights, and 15- to 17-inch alloy wheels. Developed in Hyundai's North American Design Center in Irvine, Calif., Hyundai Elantra stands out with its compact, yet athletic look. Powering the Elantra is an all-new 1.8-liter Nu four-cylinder engine with 148 horsepower and 131 lb-ft of torque (145 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque for Elantra PZEV). Compared to its predecessor, the 2.0-liter Beta engine, the Nu engine is smaller, weighs 74 pounds less and helps the Elantra get up to an impressive 40 MPG. It has also been designed to be cleaner with advanced clean engine technology, meaning that in California, Oregon, and a few Northeast states, it is certified as Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) – making it as clean as many hybrid electric vehicles. Outside of these "green" states, the Hyundai Elantra is available as an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV). Previous generation Hyundai Elantra
