To make the Hyundai Elantra Blue, engineers have added a "smart" alternator management system, lower friction engine components, transmission gear ratios, engine calibration changes, and a shift indicator to the 2009 Elantra GLS manual. This eco-friendly Elantra is also designed with "Blue" badging to set it apart. Other Elantra models will get the lower friction engine, "smart" alternator management system, and improved lock-up torque converter to improve gas mileage.
