Hyundai Equus

Hyundai is aiming to remove the barriers associated with owning a luxury vehicle with the introduction of the all-new 2011 Hyundai Equus. Set to arrive at select Hyundai dealerships in the late summer of 2010, the Equus is designed to compete with the world's best luxury sedans in terms of amenities, performance, advanced technology, design, and experience.

"Equus takes Hyundai's concept of intelligent luxury to a whole new level," said John Krafcik, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America. "We've leveraged the engineering excellence showcased in the Genesis to develop the Hyundai Equus, while offering an elevated level of customer experience that distinguishes our approach to luxury from that of traditional premium brands."

The Hyundai Equus extends Hyundai's premium vehicle lineup and, just like Genesis, is built on the highly acclaimed rear-wheel-drive architecture. An award-winning 4.6 liter Tau® V8 powers it; it is capable of generating an estimated 385 horsepower using premium fuel and 378 horsepower using regular fuel.

The Hyundai Equus is equipped with state-of-the-art features, which include an electronic air suspension, lane departure warning system, smart cruise control, and a Lexicon® audio system.

PREMIUM REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE ARCHITECTURE

Hyundai made a promise when they launched the Genesis that its rear-wheel-drive architecture would support the production of many other models in different segments. The Hyundai Equus is the third such model and is based on an extended Genesis architecture. The new Equus stretches an additional 7.2 inches (203.1 inches vs. 195.9 inches) over Genesis and a well-balanced 52/48 front-to-rear weight distribution represents increased stability and more refined steering capabilities.
