Hyundai Grandeur
The Hyundai Grandeur TG is a full-size sedan introduced for the 2006 model year. It is based on the Sonata platform and is available in North America, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates as the Hyundai Azera. The base model of the Azera has a price tag of US$24,995, while the Limited version costs US$27,495 and the Ultimate Package costs $29,995. This flagship sedan is the most luxurious Hyundai is selling outside of Korea and the Middle East, until 2007 when an all-new rear-wheel drive luxury sedan is released under the Hyundai name.
Powered by a 3.8 L Lambda V6 engine, the Azera boasts 263 hp (196 kW), which is delivered to the front wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission with "Shiftronic" manual gear selection. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and has a top speed of 157 mph (252 km/h), with fuel economy of 19 mpg (12.4 L/100 km) in the city and 28 mpg (8.4 L/100 km) on the highway.
The Limited trim includes added features such as 17 in alloy wheels, heated front seats, leather seat-upholstery, and a power sun shade in the rear window. The Ultimate Package also includes an enhanced audio system with 10 speakers and a 6 CD changer, a power sunroof, telescopic steering wheel, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The Azera has earned an array of awards since its launch, including "Best New Family Car (over CAN$35,000)" in the 2006 Canadian Car of the Year awards and commendations from Car and Driver for having more rear legroom than a BMW 7 Series and more overall interior room than the BMW 7 Series.
