Hyundai HCD10 Hellion Concept

The Hyundai Design and Technical Center and Hyundai Motor America unveiled the world debut of the impressive HCD10 Hyundai Hellion concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This compact three-door sport crossover body design exhibits attitude and individuality, giving it an unmistakable character. "The Hyundai Hellion was created with the aim of appealing to a diverse group of individualists," said Joel Piaskowski, chief designer at the Hyundai Design Center. "Mindset and attitude are becoming the defining standards in today's market segments. We believe that the Hellion concept will bring a new attitude to the Hyundai family. It's that mischievous yet outspoken sibling that everyone loves!" ARCHITECTURE The concept behind Hellion's architecture was inspired by a hardshell backpack, with visual and structural strength provided by the use of three ultra light structural ribs connecting the suspended surfboard-shaped spine. Not only does this ribcage offer maximum safety for all occupants, but it also heightens the car's visual rigidity, achieving a kind of organic ruggedness. EXTERIOR DESIGN "The HCD10 Hyundai Hellion was designed with its dimensions to give it a tougher look," said Marc Mainville, senior designer at the Hyundai Design Center. "The short overhangs permit for excellent attack angles if driven off-road, while the skid plates, muscular wheel flares, and tow hooks demonstrate its robustness."
