Hyundai Tucson V6

The Hyundai Tucson (also known as the JM) is a compact crossover SUV that was launched in 2005 by the Korean automaker, Hyundai. It is based on the Elantra platform shared with the redesigned 2005 Kia Sportage. The Tucson is offered with two powertrain options: a 2.0 L I4 engine with five-speed front-drive manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission with "sport shift" manual shifting capability, and a 2.7 L V6 which is available with the automatic transmission only. Four-wheel drive is offered as an option with a Borg-Warner torque controller system. Depending on the market, a 2.0 L diesel engine, equipped with common rail technology, is also available. The Tucson is offered in three trim levels in the United States: base GL, mid-line GLS, and top-tier Limited (previously called LX). All trim levels come with standard air conditioning, cruise control, six airbags, electronic stability control, a CD player, alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, and premium cloth seats. The GLS trim adds a contrasting gray body cladding, a different alloy design, a AM/FM/Cassette/CD, fog lights, and a front windshield wiper de-icing grid. The Limited version comes with leather seating surfaces, a 6-disc in dash CD changer, body-colored cladding, automatic climate control, and heated seats. The availability of the 2.0-liter four cylinder engine is only offered in the GL trim, while the 2.7-liter V6 is exclusive to the GLS and Limited. In terms of cargo space, the Tucson's folding rear seat design can help increase storage capacity. Additionally, the front passenger seat is also able to fold flat, allowing for even more storage room. The Tucson received recognition for its safety feature content, with dual-stage frontal impact airbags, torso side-impact airbags built into the front seats, and curtain airbags for side-impact protection for both front and rear passengers. The front passenger airbag is designed with a deactivator feature, which prevents the airbag from deploying if the seat is unoccupied during a frontal collision, thereby reducing repair costs. The Tucson was awarded the Japan Good Design Award and the Canadian Car of the Year Best New Crossover Award in 2005. For 2006, the LX model was rebranded Limited with color-coded cladding, automatic climate control, and a high-performance sound system. The GLS retained the gray cladding, though 'HYUNDAI' is no longer branded into the cladding on the front doors, upgraded with improved cloth seats with a heating element option. Both the GLS and Limited got redesigned alloy wheels while the GL remains unchanged.
