Hyundai Tucson V6

The Hyundai Tucson (also called the JM) is a compact crossover SUV that was released in 2005 by Korean automaker Hyundai. It is built on the Elantra-based platform found in the redesigned 2005 Kia Sportage. The available powertrains for the Tucson include a 2.0 L I4 motor that uses a five-speed, front-drive manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic transmission with "sport shift" manual shifting option, as well as a 2.7 L V6 engine that only supports the automatic. Four wheel drive is also optionally available with a Borg-Warner torque controller system. Additionally, there is a 2.0 L diesel engine with common rail technology that is available in some markets. In the United States, the Tucson is offered in GL, GLS, and Limited (formerly LX) trim levels. All models come with air conditioning, cruise control, six airbags, electronic stability control, a CD player, alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, and premium cloth seats. GLS adds contrast gray body cladding, a different alloy design, an AM/FM/Cassette/CD, fog lights, and a front windshield wiper de-icing grid. The top-tier Limited features leather seating surfaces, a 6-disc in dash CD changer, body-colored cladding, automatic climate control, and heated seats. The GLS and Limited are only available with the 2.7-liter V6, while the GL comes with a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine. The Tucson is not flush with cargo space, but its easy-to-fold seats can considerably increase the storage volume. Even the front passenger seat can fold down flat, providing extra space for large items. In the safety department, this crossover is well-equipped, offering dual-stage frontal impact airbags, torso side-impact airbags integrated into the front seats, and side-impact curtain airbags for the protection of front and rear passengers. Additionally, the front passenger airbag has a deactivation feature that keeps it from deploying if the seat is unoccupied during a frontal crash. The Tucson was recognized for its design by winning the Japan Good Design Award and the Canadian Car of the Year Best New Crossover award for 2005. Updates for 2006 included the renaming of the LX trim level to Limited, along with color-coded cladding, automatic climate control, and a high-performance sound system. The GLS received improved cloth seats with an optional heating element, gray cladding with no “HYUNDAI” text, and a redesigned set of alloy wheels. The base GL trim remains unchanged.
