Hyundai i-Blue Concept

In anticipation of the IAA show's sustainability and climate protection theme, Hyundai has unveiled its new i-Blue Concept, a hydrogen-powered, zero-emission vehicle. It was developed at Hyundai's Design and Technical Centre in Chiba, Japan using their third-generation fuel cell technology, which is being developed at the company's Eco-Technology Research Institute in Mabuk, Korea. Unlike previous models, the i-Blue takes the form of a D-segment 2+2 crossover utility vehicle (CUV), signifying a great progress in the company's research and development of fuel cell vehicles. As Dr Hyun-Soon Lee, President of Research and Development mentioned: "Our engineering team has successfully designed a more compact fuel cell car, while still realising the safety, comfort, convenience and driving range of a traditional internal combustion engine vehicle." The i-Blue Concept marks a huge step for Hyundai in the commercialisation of hydrogen-powered vehicles, as their aim is to achieve mass production of these vehicles within the next decade.
