Infiniti I35

Infiniti's I30 and I35 were luxury cars from the Nissan Maxima sedan line, known initially for its front wheel drive and 227 hp engine. In late 2001, the I30 was redesigned with smaller interior revisions, optional upgraded equipment, a re-tuned suspension system, larger brakes, and stability control. The engine-displacement increased from 3.0 to 3.5 L, and Nissan's VQ35DE V6 provided 255 hp. The I30 was rebranded the I35 in order to reflect the improved power and upgraded styling.

Despite the upgrades, Infiniti was unable to match the ES300 and the base version Acura TL in terms of performance. The only transmission available was a 4-speed automatic, and the model lacked the power of the 5-Series and Acura's Type-S version of the TL.

In September 2004, Infiniti announced the discontinuation of the I35 after the model year 2004. The I35 was succeeded by the G35, which was released in 2003.
