Infiniti M45 Concept

2003

The 2003 M45 was based on the Y34-series Nissan Gloria/Nissan Cedric, with styling inspired by the Gloria. The car was powered by Nissan's 340 hp VK45DE V8, capable of 333 ft.lbf of torque. Despite its attractiveJapanese squared-off styling, the M45 failed to impress US consumers and its sales were quite poor.

2006

In 2006, Infiniti released a completely revamped M to compete in the mid-size sport luxury class, competing against other models such as the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. This model was built on a more rigid version of the G35/350Z/FX Nissan FM platform and is available with a VQ-series 280 hp (208 kW) 3.5 L V6 in the M35, or a Q45's 335 hp (249 kW) 4.5 L V8 in the M45.

The 2006 M45 has earned numerous best-in-class awards in direct comparisons against its competitors. Despite entering a already crowded market, the M still managed to stand out amongst its rivals. For instance, both the M35 and M45 have the quickest acceleration at 0-60 in 6.3 and 5.4 seconds respectively. The M has also earned the distinction of offering the most interior space within the EPA's "large" classification, dependent on option packages. All-wheel-drive models are called the M35x, with a sports car derived ATTESA-ETS system sending all power to the rear wheels until wheel slippage is detected.

When released in February 2005 (at about the same time as the new 2006 Lexus GS) the M line's sales surpassed expectations. Prices in the US (USD) range from approximately 40,000 - 55,000, offering some of the best features for its price range.
