Infiniti Q45
The Infiniti Q45 is a full-size luxury car and serves as the flagship of Nissan's Infiniti marque. It is a rear-wheel drive luxury sedan powered by a V8 engine and competes directly with the likes of the Lexus LS, Cadillac DTS, Lincoln Town Car, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The Q45 was completely redesigned for 2002, utilizing a new platform shared by both the Cima and the President models and featuring a VC45DE V8 engine with a whopping 340hp. Despite good reviews, the car's sales remained low, with just 1129 units sold in the United States in 2005.
The 2003 Q45 was given a few under-the-skin upgrades such as a new security system, a higher final drive ratio, reprogrammed TCU, and one-at-a-time CD feed. The 2005 model was equipped with new front and rear facias, restyled hood and grille, a restyled trunk lid, new headlights with integrated fog lights, and LED rear taillights. Inside, new contoured double-stitched seats, white luminescent gauge markings, chrome accents, and dark maple trim replaced the old setup. Other upgrades include a recalibrated transmission, new 17" alloy wheels, 8-way power front seats, remote keyless entry, rain-detecting wipers, and side curtain airbags. An optional satellite radio also became available.
The car seats five and has a base price of US$56,200. The current Q45 has been praised by Car and Driver, Edmunds, and Consumer Guide, however its low sales are attributed not to the car's overall quality or performance, but to lack of advertising and the debatable prestige of the Infiniti name.
