Infiniti QX56
The Infiniti QX56 is a sport utility vehicle assembled by Nissan and offered to the public under the Infiniti brand. It shares the F-Alpha platform with the Nissan Titan pickup truck and is based on the Nissan Armada full-size SUV. The luxury SUV directly competes with the Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, and Lexus LX470.
Under the hood, the QX56 features a 5.6 L VK56DE V8 engine that delivers 315 hp at 4,900 rpm and 390 ft·lbf torque at 3,600 rpm. Each cylinder is lined with cast iron and the valvetrain is a double overhead camshaft (DOHC) design with four valves per cylinder. The SUV's throttle responsiveness is designed to correspond to specific drivetrain modes; for example, when all-wheel drive is selected, the sensitivity is reduced for greater control when off-roading.
Infiniti offers the QX56 in one trim level with optional features such as a DVD entertainment system, 4WD/2WD, and a bench instead of captain chairs for the second row. Standard features include a ten-speaker Bose system, DVD-based navigation system, leather trim for all seats, dual-climate control, 18-inch chrome alloy wheels, an adaptive cruise control system, and a pre-crash system.
The QX56 has a towing capacity of approximately 9,000 lbs, the highest in its class. As with the Nissan Armada, the QX56 is built in Canton, Mississippi and is only available in the US and Canada. With a lower price than the Lexus LX, the QX56 has been a major success for Infiniti, outselling its competitor.
