Jaguar S-Type 2.7D
The Jaguar S-Type is a mid-size luxury car and executive car that was introduced for the 2000 model year by the British marque Jaguar under the Ford Motor Company banner. The name was a revival of a previous Jaguar model, the S-Type that was released in 1964. It is produced at the company's Castle Bromwich facility in Birmingham, UK. Drawing from the Ford/Jaguar DEW platform, the car was given a unique and distinct styling by the late Geoff Lawson.
In 2003, the supercharged S-Type R was added to the lineup. This version is powered by a supercharged V8 engine delivering 390 hp (291 kW), and accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 s). It is finished in a dramatic monochromatic paint with 18-inch (457-mm) wheels, a wire mesh grille, sportier front fascia with fog lamps integrated, a rear spoiler, a brace mounted at the rear subframe, and the "R" badging embellished on the rear deck lid and front fenders. Appearing as the most expensive S-Type, it carries a base price of US$58,995. An upgrade in 2004 sought to refresh the car's overall appearance. Some upgrades included an aluminum bonnet.
Powertrain
The rear-wheel drive S-Type can be had with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed J-Gate transmission which enables automatic gear selection as well as clutchless manual gear selection. From 2000 to 2002, the S-Type was equipped with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed J-Gate transmission.
This vehicle is available with numerous petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.5 L engine is not available for vehicles that are exported to the US and Canada. Options include: 2.5 L V6 with 201 hp (150 kW); 3.0 L V6 with 240 hp (180 kW); 4.0 L V8 with 290 hp (220 kW); 4.2 L V8 with 300 hp (220 kW); 4.2 L V8 supercharged delivering 400 hp (300 kW); and 2.7 L V6 diesel offering 207bhp (152kW).
