Jaguar XF [US]
The redesigned 2016 Jaguar XF is a luxurious sedan that brings its own distinctive blend of design, technology, and refinement to its segment. The XF sports Jaguar's aluminum-intensive construction and offers a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive with two V6 supercharged engine options and a suite of performance and driver assistance features. The entry-level XF has a supercharged V6 engine, a move that brings the cost of entry into the premium powertrain down from the previous year's standard inline-4 engine. There is also a new 380hp supercharged V6 engine available.
DESIGN
The second generation XF has been completely redesigned and made with Jaguar's aluminum-intensive construction for better proportions, more interior room, and a smoother profile. Between the mid-size XE and full-size XJ sedans, the XF features a more upright front, a shorter front overhang, a longer wheelbase, and new rear quarter windows. Its sleek, coupe-like design, highlighted by a deep power bulge on the hood and the short front overhang, help the XF stand out from the competition.
Director of Design Ian Callum explains, “In creating the all-new XF, as a design team we have been driven by discipline, the discipline of simplicity. Every exterior line on the XF has a clear purpose - nothing is superfluous. Achieving that simplicity takes time and requires great determination; it's all too easy to add lines to a car, but much harder to add character by leaving lines out. Inside too, we have been driven by the desire to ensure the cabin of the all-new XF is as comforting as it is comfortable. New technology is combined carefully with materials that cosset and reassure. The all-new XF has a clear sense of calm and strength, both outside and inside - and I'm proud of my team for delivering that."
