Jeep Cherokee Renegade

The Jeep Liberty, also known as the Jeep Cherokee, is a compact SUV from DaimlerChrysler. It was first introduced in 2002 and incorporated styling from the Dakar and Jeepster show cars. It became well-known for its two PowerTech engines - a 150 hp 2.4 L I4 engine, and a 210 hp 3.7 L V6 engine. 4-wheel disc brakes were added in 2003, and a 2.8 L VM Motori turbodiesel engine was introduced in the CRD model in 2005, although this model has since been cancelled due to emissions regulations. The Liberty was extremely successful for Jeep, becoming the best-selling compact SUV in the United States in 2005. It has also been popular with new buyers of the Jeep marque, often bringing them in from outside markets. It was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2002. The Chrysler Group also released two new compact SUVs - the Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot - in 2007. The Liberty was then expected to become a mid-size crossover SUV, competing against vehicles such as the Toyota Highlander, Nissan Murano and Honda Pilot. In 2006, 832,000 Liberty SUVS were recalled due to a problem with the front suspension lower ball joint that potentially caused a loss of steering.
