Jeep Hurricane Concept

The Jeep Hurricane is a concept vehicle that was unveiled at the 2005 North American International Auto Show in Detroit by the manufacturer Daimler-Chrysler. Not only is it visually outstanding, it also boasts some impressive off-road features. Climbing Ability The Hurricane's ground clearance of 14.3 inches (360 mm) combined with 20-inch wide wheels and specially designed 37-inch tall tires make it able to approach and climb 64.0 degree angles and descend and depart 86.7 degree angles. Its 20-inch, four-wheel independent short/long-arm suspension system with coilover shocks and remote reservoirs allows for greater shock travel and an easier run over almost any terrain. Powertrains The Hurricane is fitted with two 5.7-liter Hemi engines, one above the front axle and one above the rear axle. Each of the engines produces 335 horsepower (250 kW) and 370 lbf·ft (500 N·m) of torque for a total output of 670 horsepower (500 kW) and 740 lbf·ft (1000 N·m) of torque, giving it a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 4.9 seconds. To provide optimum performance in different driving conditions, it has a multi-displacement system that allows the selection of all, half, or none of the eight cylinders in each engine, and this can be done either manually or automatically.
