At the 2005 International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, Jeep® hinted at the potential for its global portfolio expansion with the world premiere of two concept sport-utility vehicles – the Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass. These distinct interpretations of compact Jeep 4x4s have been designed to appeal to all-new buyers, making a statement about fun, freedom, utility, capability, fuel efficiency, and interior flexibility – all at a great value.
Jeep® designers have taken this concept a step further, having potential for a powerful and efficient all-new 2.4-liter World Engine, a state-of-the-art 2.0-liter diesel (for international markets), and a new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) to pair with them. Additionally, these two concepts would feature all-new Jeep 4x4 capability, allowing them to tackle any terrain.
This potential Jeep lineup, comprising the Jeep Commander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Liberty (Cherokee outside North America), the Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass concepts, and the legendary Jeep Wrangler, will expand the Jeep brand's global portfolio to an entirely new customer base.
