Kia's first ever plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, the all-new Kia Optima Plug-in Hybrid, receives its European premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show ahead of being available for sale across Europe in Q4 2016. The innovative plug-in hybrid powertrain is a powerful addition to the Kia Optima line-up and the company's expanding portfolio of low-emission vehicles.
The all-new Kia Optima Plug-in Hybrid offers greater battery capacity and longer electric-only range than earlier Optima Hybrid models. It can take drivers up to 33 miles of zero-emissions travel before the efficient 2.0-litre GDI (gasoline direct injection) engine needs to be used for propulsion. Kia are looking to achieve a combined CO2 emissions of 37 g/km, a level that will lead to low cost of ownership for private and fleet buyers.
Michael Cole, Chief Operating Officer, Kia Motors Europe commented: "We expect hybrid sales to grow and account for around 700,000 new car sales in Europe by 2020 and the Optima Plug-in Hybrid will allow us to meet that demand.
