Kia POP Concept 2010 posters

Kia POP Concept

Giving the global auto industry a jolt, the Kia POP Concept illuminated the stage of the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Developed at Kia’s European Design Centre in Frankfurt under the guidance of Chief Design Officer Peter Schreyer, the POP Concept has a striking design that challenges conventional notions of electric car aesthetic. Guillaume, a director at the design centre, elaborated on their goal for the POP Concept: "This car is meant to be a loose nucleus, a wild atom. At Kia Motors, we're trying to stir things up in the automotive world, to surprise people and illustrate our ‘challenger brand’ ethos.” The chrome-hued electro-mobile with its front-hinged doors, three-metre-long body, and oblong-shaped side windows make it easy to see that the POP Concept stands apart from other electric cars. Schreyer was particularly drawn to the cutting-edge side-window design, the dot-pattern grille and taillights, the full-length glass roof, and the simplified wheel design that hint at inspiration from outside the realm of auto-manufacturing. “We found a lot of new things outside the automotive world," Guillaume remarked. "Looking into gliders and high-speed bicycles allowed us to develop a design that is dynamic and eye-catching. We really wanted the POP Concept to have a unique character of its own.”
