The new Kia Picanto boasts a host of improvements and the model line-up has been altered to take advantage of new Vehicle Excise Duty regulations. Starting at £5,995 OTR, the upgraded 1.0-litre Kia Picanto is now suitable for band B VED taxation at a rate of £35 per year. This has been made possible thanks to the four-seat configuration accompanied with eco-friendly tyres and more powerful engine which delivers an additional 2 horses.
Externally, the Kia Picanto has received multiple changes. These include updated front and rear bumpers, new front lights, rear clusters, bonnet, and mirrors. Additionally, this model now offers a sportier look. Called the Kia Picanto 3, it has a mesh grille, front fog lamps, black bezel headlamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, heated and electrically adjustable mirrors with incorporated side repeaters, unique dials, bolstered headrests and alloy pedals. The Kia Picanto 3 runs on a 1.1-litre engine.
The launch version, Kia Picanto Ice, is fitted with air conditioning while the range-topping variant, Picanto 3, has full iPod compatibility with the in-built sound system. As with the Sportage and in response to customer feedback, the turn signal stalks have been transferred to the left side of the steering wheel. Furthermore, the Kia Picanto has incorporated cee'd inspired features such as the grille, orange illuminated dials, interior plastics and the arrangement of the centre console switches.
