Kia Rondo SX Concept

Kia Motors America (KMA) debuted its all-new crossover vehicle, the 2007 Kia Rondo, at the Los Angeles Auto Show and quickly followed up with the Rondo SX Concept at the Chicago International Auto Show. Already based on the current-generation Kia Optima platform for capability, the SX concept elevates the crossover to showcase that practicality and excitement can coexist. "We have positioned the all-new 2007 Rondo as a vehicle of function and versatility," said Len Hunt, executive vice president and COO of KMA. "The Rondo SX Concept is proof that smart, spacious vehicles don't need to be boring, and that consumers can still be passionate about a daily driver." The Rondo SX Concept has been enhanced with a sophisticated four-stage metallic gray exterior finish and cues from current Kia SX-trimmed vehicles such as the Rio and Spectra models, like a larger lower air intake, an integrated SX-styled front fascia, new brake cooling ducts, a restyled metal-mesh-insert front grille, darkened headlight inner rings, a metal-mesh vent insert in the rear fascia, diffuser, dual exhaust outlets, and optional accessory body kit. The car wheelbase is fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels and 235/40R18 Michelin® Pilot Sport performance tires for a more aggressive look. The interior of the Rondo SX Concept features modern luxury sport materials and finishes with a black leather-wrapped steering wheel with contrasting red stitching and gray leather seats with custom contrasting red leather trim and dark gray Alcantara® inserts. The vehicle is also equipped with SX-styled brushed stainless steel sport pedals, platinum-look accents for the center stack, shifter surround and door switch trims, and a cold-air intake and a cat-back exhaust system that yields an additional 10 horsepower to boost the engine's output to 192 horsepower. The ride height has also been lowered approximately three inches for improved cornering and aesthetics.
